Hands on Cooking

You get a glimpse of a private garden from the street, and the romance of the setting is as heady as the scent of sweet olive. You may eat at one of the world-famous restaurants and wonder, “Do locals prepare food like this?” Now satisfy your curiosity…step through the huge doors and enjoy hours of making and eating New Orleans’ cuisine at the chef’s kitchen in a 140 year old Italianate mansion  located in the second oldest neighborhood in the city…Algiers Point.

Experience the city as one would have experienced it a 100 years ago preparing century-old recipes. Come in and relax. Get acquainted with your classmates and begin to take your fantasy cooking trip back over a century ago. Enjoy cooking your Cajun and Creole menu when you don your aprons and begin a full day of learning and cooking. Each guest is shown professional techniques, the secrets of seasonings and the preparation of selected recipes while learning the history of Louisiana’s world-famous cuisine. Reservations required. Minimum class is 2 person with a maximum of 6.

Open Classes

Our morning classes are popular for those individuals who wish to learn how to cook Cajun and Creole cuisine several venues to choose from.  Wines are served with your meal. The open classes include recipes and generous servings of everything your chef has cooked before you. Simply make your reservation.  Cost is determined by your menu and number of guest. Transportation may be arrange for your guest at an extra charge. How can you miss? We will customize your next brunch, lunch, happy hour or dinner for groups of 10 or more and assist you in menu planning and amenity suggestions to fit your group’s interests and personality. Our goal is to insure a remembered New Orleans’ experience never to be forgotten! How about cocktails and Hors d`oeuvres and a Cajun and Creole buffet followed by everyone learning to make, flip and flame their own New Orleans desert crepes? Sounds good? We Think so.
